Susanna Hoffs Writing New Bangles Tunes

Bangles singer Susanna Hoffs is at a good time in her life. She's preparing for the media push behind her and Matthew Sweet's collaborative album 'Under the Covers Vol. 2,' and she's in the beginning stages of writing a new Bangles record. "I'm really enjoying it," Hoffs tells Spinner of the writing process. "We're kind of under the radar to some extent, but we're always on and off the road during the year. We're sort of approaching the record like we're going to go in and record three songs, and go out on the road and come back, and go in and record three songs."
The Bangles will tour the East Coast this May, and once that jaunt wraps, she will return to Sweet's Lolina Green Studios in Los Angeles to work further on the album.
"It's kind of funny because having been in the band that's thought of as an '80s band, all four of us were so into '60s music that we really didn't relate to the '80s -- even in the '80s," Hoffs says. "The other thing that continually surprises me is how many people love the '80s. It's really surprising to me. I realize there is something to be said for music that's fun. Even in its lightheartedness or its silliness, I think the '80s was the birth of indie rock, which is a really cool aspect."
Let's just not discuss the hair.

I cannot believe no one 's commented yet on how smokin' Hoffs is these days.
