Perry Farrell Injured Onstage During Jane's Addiction Atlanta Show
- Posted on May 11th 2009 12:00PM by John D. Luerssen
Perry Farrell suffered a setback Sunday night when the Jane's Addiction frontman tore his calf muscle onstage in Atlanta during his reunited band's opening number, 'Three Days.' The injury occurred just three shows into the NIN/JA tour, Jane's ongoing co-headlining trek with Nine Inch Nails and Tom Morello's Street Sweeper Social Club the opener. Despite the pain, Farrell powered on and performed a full set before consulting doctors. The singer was taken by ambulance from the Lakewood Amphitheatre to Atlanta Medical Center after the show. According to a statement, Farrell intends to perform on schedule Tuesday night in Austin, Texas , although he may be sitting down for upcoming gigs as doctors have ordered him to stay off the leg for several days.
The Jane's/NIN tour got off to a rousing start Friday night in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to reports, Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery relied heavily on fan favorites like 'Stop,' 'Been Caught Stealing,' 'Ocean Size,' 'Mountain Song' and one of the band's earliest numbers, '1%.'
Meanwhile, Trent Reznor made a curious remark in between tunes like 'Heresy, a cover of David Bowie's 'I'm Afraid of Americans' and the classic 'Head Like A Hole,' saying "This tour is kind of strange for us because we're going away after this." If fans were miffed that NIN left catalog staples like "Hurt", "Closer" and "The Perfect Drug" off of its playlist, they were probably more disappointed when the band never returned for an encore. On his Twitter, Reznor said the PA was turned off, leading to his first temper tantrum of the tour. Hoepfully all the bands have nothing but smooth sailing from here on out.

Not so strange - he's already said that NIN are breaking up, and its called the WAVE GOODBYE tour - not NIN/JA ( NINE INCH NAILS/JANES ADDICTION )tour! Although its a cool name anyways - and not just for turtles!

May 12 2009 at 3:00 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI saw Trent Reznor perform in Cleveland for the "With Teeth" tour, and he threw a HUGE temper tantrum when the lights did not work according to plan. He stopped the show, and literally called out the lighting guy, whoever he may be. I even think that he threatened him. I had never seen anything like it in all of the hundreds of shows I have attended, big and small.
While I have considered myself a big NIN fan since the beginning (being a native Clevelander helps), I more or less stopped caring right there on the spot. I have no tolerance for adults who act like insolent children. Zero. I could care less if I EVER see them perform again (that was my fifth show, mind you).
Mistakes happen, life goes on. If your fans pay good money to see you, suck it up and deal with it. Otherwise, they may stop coming to see you. Like me.
I hope you get better soon.so you can go back on stage and perform again on stage for al of your fans.
