David Crosby Blames Moustache for Ruining Acting Career

In the '90s, David Crosby made appearances on shows like 'Ellen' and 'Roseanne,' playing himself or similar characters. But that's the extent of his acting success, and it's all due to his familiar face.

"I'd love to be in a good cowboy movie and I wish I'd been in 'Silverado,'" Crosby tells Spinner. "But the truth is, my face is so identifiable that I can't do the job very well. The minute they see me, it's 'Oh, it's Crosby.' I'm way more recognizable than I am famous. I'm probably one of the most recognizable guys in the world because of the high forehead and the mustache."

To prove his point, Crosby describes an incident involving him and another famous musician. "Jimmy Buffett's a much bigger star than I am, right?" he says. "I mean, much bigger. I was having lunch with him recently and none of them saw him. He's sitting right across the table from me. There's just the two of us there, man, and they didn't even see him." While some stars hate when they go unnoticed, Buffett was unfazed. "He thought it was funny as s---. I said 'You are such a smart guy, man, not to grow your hair or be identifiable.' He said, 'I'm stealth, Cros.'"

But don't worry, mustache fans -- Crosby's famous lip fur is staying put. When asked if he'd ever trim it, he says simply, "Nope. I like my mustache." Phew.
