Roadie Claims Jimi Hendrix Was Murdered

Jimi Hendrix was murdered by his manager, according to a new book by a former roadie. James "Tappy" Wright alleges that Hendix's manager, Michael Jeffrey, once drunkenly confessed to killing the guitarist by stuffing pills into his mouth and washing them down with several bottles of red wine.

Jeffrey -- who stood to collect $2 million as a beneficiary on Hendrix's life insurance policy -- feared Hendrix was planning to fire him in favor of a new handler, according to a report about the book, titled 'Rock Roadie', as reported in Mail on Sunday. Wright claims Jeffrey -- who died in a plane crash in 1973 -- told him in 1971 that Hendrix was "worth more to him dead than alive."

Hendrix died in September 1970. An ambulance crew found the 27-year-old musician's body at London's Samarkand Hotel, in the room of an acquaintance named Monika Dannemann. His cause of death was listed as barbiturate intoxication and inhalation of vomit.

Wright writes that Jeffrey confessed, "I was in London the night of Jimi's death and together with some old friends ... we went round to Monika's hotel room, got a handful of pills and stuffed them into his mouth ... then poured a few bottles of red wine deep into his windpipe ... That son of a bitch was going to leave me. If I lost him, I'd lose everything."

Not surprised at all that this would have been an evil tactical move back in those days. It is such a shame that money is such a great root of all evil and continues to be so to date. If this indeed is true, what a lost to the music industry of such a young life and an even greater loss to his family and loved ones. It is just sad that money matters more than people and human life.

Money isn't the root of evil. It's the love of money that is the root of all evil.

Bad people loving money and putting it above humanity is the problem. Money is nothing by itself. Money put in the hands of good people can do a lot of good. It really gets me when poor people preach crap that keeps so many people from pursuing wealth. When you don't have money... it's all you think about. You can't do so many things you'd like to do for yourself and your family. The saying should be rewritten as, "The root of evil is a lack of money and a "lack" mentality".

Very well said. Now we just need to open our minds as a nation and realize what the world banks and governments are doing behind closed doors due to their love of money.

It's "the love of" money that is the root of all evil. As you can tell, those who love money will kill even their own brother or even father or bring them to a piece of bread if not kill them. I agree with your statement and I also wouldn't be surprised if he was murdered. Alot of our earlier musicians like he and Cobain and Rastafarian Bob Marley and you can go on and on and I know for sure that these guys were indeed $$ objects. Hard to stay alive anymore when you have gobs of cash like these guys without some kind of bodyguard.

Whether one says "money is...." or "the love of money is the root of all evil," it can all be boiled down to one simple word: greed.

Jimi Henricks was a major heroin addict and a major pill popper. Even Joplin reported how druuged out he got on nights he proformed. He could of survived alot of pills and booze he overdosed on heroin. This guy wants to to write a book and make out on this phoney claim. Jeffrey is dead and can't defend himself against these comments

First off "jetncat", learn how to spell. Second, who are you to make such a statement. Were you the attending doctor at the hospital? Perhaps you were the Pathologist who performed an autopsy and toxicology on Hendrix? Maybe you were his drug dealer? You just DON'T know! Think before you make such stupid comments. The roadie may, or may not be telling the truth. Who cares! Jeffrey is dead, and there is no proof. Jimi was an amazing musician that changed guitar rock forever in a few short years. Remember THAT part?????

Jimi Hendrix was not a major heroin addict at all, if you know anything about him. On rare occasions he would try heroin but was definitely not an addict. If you really think he overdosed on heroin than you're an idiot.

I agree. It's a shame that they can't just let the dead stay buried and have to drudge up evil for their own gain. Leave him alone he has paid his dues and we all still get the benefit of his music.

First, the last name was Hendrix. Second, the myth of Jimi ODing on heroin got debunked decades ago. Third, if you don't think pills can as dangerous as "hard drugs", check the history on Elvis, or the unforeseen accident which took Bruce Lee from us. Tragic, any way you look at it.

um. Where do you get your historic material? Admittedly, Hendricks was very into the drug culture but heroin was beyond what he was willing to do. He was into acid and pot. Get more facts before you go scandalizing someone's name.
