Hanson's body was discovered by his parents; the exact cause of death is still unknown, however, it is believed to be the result of some kind of home accident, such as a fall.Born in Milwaukee, Hanson made the Twin Cities area his home base and was a rising indie-pop songwriter with three solo albums to his name, released between 2003 and 2008. His unique falsetto caught the attention of peers such as the Decemberists, whose frontman, Colin Meloy, wrote the following tweet in response to the news: "RIP Jeff Hanson, former label and tour mate. This guy's (Hanson's) music is pretty good. I just brought it up on Rhapsody, but he has a really high voice, kind of like Alison Krause, believe it or not, a little more folk than bluegrass. What a shame, we've lost all of our alternative radio stations for 9-song rotation crap. We miss so much original music.

June 08 2009 at 4:19 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI never heard of the dude, but I do send my condolences out to his family, friends and fans. The passing of a human from life is sad, and it doesn't make sense to put a negative comment about it.
June 08 2009 at 4:16 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Reply(dolla) It is so sad to see such a young person lose their life. Whether anyone thinks its was fair or unfair or a 'it was coming to you' it is a loss to the family and to those who liked his music. Its a shame how people would go on here bashing on artists/rappers when your child is upstairs bumping to the very same beats/lyrics, you so bash on. Hey that is America, Diverse. Go get some education! Read a book to get over that ignorance. Shame how you'll go online to bash on diversity, but when a rapper or 'gangster' comes along your way you beg for the autograph, buy your kids tickets for the concert, or are too scared to express your ignorant views in public. So go on with your bad self. OOOh so bad -online- uh. R.I.P young man and our prayers go out to the family. Rap doesnt bring crime. HATRED does. I can name many times there was crime and rap wasnt involved. VIVA RAP -ARTISTS-!! LOL. Sara. Denver, CO
