Evan Dando Sues General Motors

Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando is suing General Motors for allegedly copying one of his songs in an advertisement. The suit -- filed in federal court last Thursday -- claims that the automaker violated Dando's copyright by re-recording the band's 1992 hit 'It's a Shame About Ray.'

In addition to the currently troubled automaker -- which sought bankruptcy protection just days ago -- Dando also listed the advertising and licensing firms behind the 2008 television campaign for Cheverolet and Buick. Dando is seeking damages and a portion of profits derived from the use of his composition.

The Lemonheads are currently touring the U.S. in support of their latest disc 'Varshons,' an album containing covers of songs by Christina Aguilera, Wire, Graham Parsons and G.G. Allin, among others.
