Billy Corgan Eyes October for New Pumpkins Album

Assuming there are still folks super psyched about new Smashing Pumpkins material, Billy Corgan has some reassurance: it'll be out by October. Corgan also reveals that he may have found a replacement for the band's recently departed drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin, but he could have a new potential snafu with his touring lineup seeing that bassist Ginger Reyes is pregnant.

"Still working hard on getting these darn songs together," Corgan writes on his blog. "I am still on target for putting out new music in October," Corgan explains. "There certainly is no shortage of ideas to choose from. And I think I have my drummer of the future. I've worked with him so far for one week and all indications are really good that he's the man for the job. Going to work with him some more before it becomes official. Whoever takes the job has quite big shoes to fill, no doubt about it."

"Spoke to Ginger the other day about maybe getting together and playing," he added. "This I have to see because she is so tiny and all the reports I'm getting are that she is the cutest pregnant woman ever so I guess she'll be playing sitting down? I've never played with a pregnant woman before so I'm not sure how it all works. Guess I should have paid more attention in biology. Keep those prayers coming, I need 'em."

Oh, Billy. We're sure there's some fans left holding on by a prayer.
