Pete Doherty Arrested After Alleged In-Flight Drug Bust

Embattled rocker Pete Doherty is the latest musician whose in-flight behavior resulted in an arrest. The former Libertines frontman was detained last Friday for allegedly shooting up on a British Airways flight.

According to a report in Britain's Sunday Mail, the 30-year-old musician was arrested after arriving in Geneva on the way to a performance. According to another passenger, Doherty went to the bathroom midway through the flight and wouldn't come out for over 25 minutes before the flight crew got the door open and allegedly found him with a hypodermic needle. He was escorted back to his seat, looking "completely out of it," while another crew member allegedly carried the needle out wrapped in a napkin. The pilot called law enforcement, who arrested Doherty when the plane landed.

A police spokesman said Doherty was arrested for heroin consumption, paid a fine and was released, though he wouldn't confirm that he was found unconscious in the bathroom with the syringe. The rocker was allowed to play his gig in support of his solo debut, 'Grace/Wastelands,' that evening before returning to the UK on Saturday.

An accomplished musician, Doherty has become more widely known because of his former relationship with supermodel Kate Moss and history with drugs. Last year, Doherty spent 29 days in jail for violating his probation after being caught with crack, heroin, ketamine and marijuana. Before this incident, he swore to the press that he was clean.

I laughed when I read eaglesclw comment, as I first thought the headline referred to Shannon Doherty as well. And I share your feeling about this idiot. I wish they would not keep giving this no-talent all the unwarranted press. It seems to just encourage him and others of his ilk to continue to be stupid.

LOL, I thought it was Shannen Doherty too! After reading that, as a teenager, she seduced Melissa Gilbert's husband, NOTHING would surprise me about Shannen Doherty!

It surprises me that this fool is still alive. But give him time, I'm sure he'll take care of that little problem soon enough. One thing I am very happy about. It's the way his being jailed, fined, arrested and rehabbed has helped him so very much. Yes sir, give him a fine, that'll teach him a lesson and make sure he doesn't do it again.
And to his...er...ugh...fans, Yea, I know, it's an addiction right? Or maybe it was the way he brought up, right? Or maybe he has too much pressure in his life!!!
Whatever this poor souls problems are, are of course not his fault at all.
After all personal responsibility has it's limitations, right?

Its an evil drug. A childhood friend of mine was buried yesterday due to the drug. This is the real drug problem in America, not marijuana.

who actually thinks weed is a problem?

the only problem with marijuana is the fact that it is illegal!!!! Marijuana laws destroy lives.... marijuana helps many many people and is a lot better for you than alcohol of ciggarettes... and to all you people who say smoking marijuana is bad for your lungs, do your research.... marijuana has never been linked to cancer and it is actually used to slow the progression of cancer because THC helps to remove dead cells before they become cancerous. Unfortunately, there is too much money involved in pharmacutical drugs (which can be very dangerous and addicting, although legal with a script) if marijuana was legal, the drug companies would lose some of their customers(profit) as a lot of us would be using the much safer marijuana instead. It's all about money. Drug company lobbies are strong. That's really the crime here.

If you're going by burials, the real drug problem is alcohol.

Go back to the old days (1900), let druggies order their stuff through the mail. So long as they do it in private and at home, the rest of us won't have to deal with it.

And shooting up in an airplane bathroom *does* hurt others -- nothing sucks worse than waiting to go when you've really got to go. I'd be very angry if I found out I nearly wet my pants because some idiot took 25 minutes to shoot up.

If our present generation of mis-guided youth weren't so stupid as to be impressed by this maggot of society he would be dead or worse, working at mcdonalds where he probably deserves,at best.Kids need to realize that buying music or paying for tickets to enable these idiots to have enough money to pay for the drugs makes them losers as well...These low-life,disease spreading scumbags and their "music",all need to go away and real muscisians like rockers from the 70's need to take back the airwaves...

haha...what "rock" or "drug den" have you just crawled out from. Most of YOUR so-called "real rockers of the 70s" are either "dead" (Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, et al) from their drugged out lives or if they are living, they're so old and f@cked up--it' ain't even funny (Keith Richards comes to mind).

You just remember--those old druggies you seem to have high regard for are the predecessors to the CURRENT generation of drug addicted bands and musicians.

The "rockers" of the 70's are the ones that helped introduce this manifested relationship-drugs and music. To think that those such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, ACDC, Aerosmith.... were not among those "founding father's" of this type of marriage is ignorant to not only think but state.
