The first real buzz band to play this year's Bonnaroo, Passion Pit headlined ''This Tent'' on Thursday night for a crowd that could get a group photograph published on Look at This F---ing Hipster. Except they're muddy and tired from waiting in their cars all day to get into the festival.

The Boston band made friends early on, living up to the hype with energetic versions of songs like 'Make Light' from their debut full-length, 'Manners,' which was just released on May 19th. Surprisingly, the crowd knew all the words to the extent that when frontman Michael Angelakos asked "Are you still with us?" it seemed rhetorical. In fact, by the time they got to their breakout hit 'Sleepyhead,' Passion Pit even made new fans out of a couple thousand hippies. For day one at Bonnaroo, that's as much a pleasure as it is a necessity.
