"No matter how many steroid-using MVPs they sign, [the Yankees] still can't seem to beat the Red Sox." --Craig Finn
The Hold Steady frontman, who's a die-hard Minnesota Twins fan, told us how he really felt at the Brooklyn-based band's recent hometown gig.

Most of my friends are Yankee fans. However, this "we've got more rings than you" shtick is wearing very thin. How many rings have they attained lately? Nice payroll and nothing to show for it. But, to give you guys a chance to bash, I am a late-in-life convert to the Cubs.

yea i got a lot of yanks friends too and as a mets fan i get the rings rubbed in my face a lot... the irony is the reason i dont root for the yankees is cause they already got rings, so why should i root for them opposed to another team? they r like the empire of baseball, id rather root for the underdog. its not that i dont like the yanks as it is more i just dont feel bad when they loose since they already got their rings anyway

For what it's worth, I heard one of the most hilarious comments after the Red Sox blew out the Yankees in the '04 playoffs: "That was rigged!" Yeah, Steinbrenner was going to call his "world's greatest team" (maybe in the past but certainly not in this decade) and tell them to lay down and choke. But they honestly did exactly that, and they're doing their best to match the 86-year drought between World Series that the Red Sox had if they keep going the way they've been going since the last time they won a Series. I'm just glad I'm not the only one to notice! LOL
