It's no secret that Dinosaur Jr. has long been a favorite of the BMX and skate worlds. And in the trio's latest video for 'Over It,' they pay homage to the culture that's championed them for so many years. The video was shot over the course of five days, where guitarist/vocalist J Mascis tells Spinner they shot for "3 to 4 hours everyday.""I definitely skated more than I ever have in the last 30 years," Mascis recalls. "I felt more confident on the board than I had in a long time."
The video shows a would-be Mascis pulling off some pretty gnarly moves, to which he admits "we had a little help with the hard tricks -- I can't do very many."
With the release of 'Farm' this week,p the band's original lineup is currently enjoying a wave of critical acclaim for their fifth full-length under Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph. Differences between Mascis and Barlow led to their separation back in 1989, but two albums back, things seem to be plugging along. "We're at least communicating better," Mascis says.
For fans, things are definitely going well: the band just announced a massive fall tour beginning September 30 in Toronto, that will keep them busy through November 20. For the first five weeks, Lou Barlow will double dip by serving as the opening act with his band the Missingmen.
