If there's one thing Randy Jackson knows, it's idols. It's the passing of one of music's biggest icons, Michael Jackson, that has him in shock."I am so saddened by the loss of a great idol and icon, Michael Jackson," the 'American Idol' judge tells Spinner. "He was, to me, the greatest entertainer of all time. He was a huge inspiration for performers across all music genres. He taught us all how to light up the stage. Wow."
Michael Jackson died Thursday in Los Angeles, at the age of 50.

I beg to differ with Randy, Elvis was the first only great entertainer!! Michael doesn't hold a candle to him.

Apparently, you've never seen Michael live in concert. I suggest you buy Michael Jackson: Live in Bucharest and watch the entire DVD! Elvis had a beautiful voice and was a very handsome man to look at...but Michael's talent far surpassed Elvis. This is just a fact...you will see for yourself if you have the courage to watch him live. He was a extraordinary songwriter, he did lead vocals, backup vocals, and produced much of the instrumentation with his own voice. According to Fred Astair, Michael was the greaest dancer of the century. According to Frank Sinatra, Michael was the second best singer in the world second only to Frank himself. His record sales speak for themselves. He is the only artist to sell over 1,000,000 copies of a single album and five other albums are listed in the biggest selling albums of all time. All of this can be fact searched by using google. Just google "biggest selling albums of all time" and you will be taken to the actual database. Of all the artists listed, you will see that Elvis does not appear at all on that list and Michael Jackson has more albums listed on that factual database than anyone in the history of music! So, yes, Elvis was a very good singer but his talent was only as bright as a "flashlight running on 2 C batteries" compared to Michael Jackson.

Correction, of course that was a typo above, it is sales of 100,000,000 of one album...not 1,000,000.

Also, just so you will know this is fact, you may also google "quotes on michael jackson floacist" and you will see what Fred Astaire and Frank Sinatra said in their own words...just like to stick with the facts as they speak a lot louder than hype!

There have always been and always will be "greatest entertainers of all time." I love Michael Jackson's music and love to watch his videos, but there have always been entertainers like Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in the "Road" pictures with Dorothy Lamour, Jack Benny and Rochester, Al Jolson, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis,Eddie Cantor,Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon, Elvis Presley, Just to name a few and they have all been some of the "Greatest entertainers of all time."I am going back a bit, but I am 77 years old and I will never forget some of them as long as I live. I will also always remember Michael Jackson in the same way. He was "Great", but perhaps not the "greatest" of all time because there have been so many." I will miss him a lot, but I have some of his recordings to remember him by. He will never be forgotten.

just leave the poor guy alone..what else could be done to him that hasn't already happened. He was a brilliant artist and will always be considered one of the great entertainers of the world. He has had to endure a very difficult life. I wish his children and his family all the best.

Whatever illnesses he suffered from that made him appear "strange" in what we call the sight of normal persons, MJ's life itself gave him the courage to give us an artistic revelation of that life. Read into it what you will...but understand that many people who have suffered have given back through qualities that were enhanced by their suffering, their sorrow, their abuse. It's all they (we) can do. He's finally at peace now.

Elvis never wrote a song in his life. In fact, he was mostly known for doing covers of other, mostly black artists of the time who didn't get the automatic support he got. Michael was like nothing there ever was or will ever be; he was TRULY unique as a dancer, a singer, a performer, a songwriter. Frank Sinatra himself said Michael was the only singer he considered better than himself; Fred Astaire called him the greatest dancer of all times. Michael is and will always be the greatest.
