Smokey Robinson, a mentor to Michael Jackson and music icon in his own right, is devastated by the news of Jackson's death, which occurred Thursday in Los Angeles.

"It's always hard to lose a friend," Robinson tells Spinner.

Robinson had just completed an interview with A&E for a Jackson 5 biography on Wednesday, and will appear on Larry King tonight to discuss Jackson's life and untimely death at the age of 50.

Michael Jackson will always be the KING of POP. Respect his talent and the fact that he is the originator of the "moonwalk", music videos and his music touched people all over the world. His talent and his greatness will live into eternity. God bless his family and God rest your soul Michael. Peace and Love.

GOD HAS CALLED FOR ANOTHER ONE OF HIS CHILDREN TO COME HOME NOW IN THE FORM OF AN ANGEL. MICHAEL MAY HAVE DONE STRANGE, WEIRD & UNAPPEALING THINGS BUT BY THE SAME TOKEN HE BROUGHT BEAUTIFUL MUSIC, INCREDIBLE DANCING AND WONDERFUL CONCERTS FOR GENERATIONS AFTER GENERATIONS TO FOREVER ENJOY. BY THE WAY MIMI THE ORIGINATED OF THE "MOONWALK" WAS NOT MICHAEL JACKSON. HE MAY HAVE GIVEN IT THE NAME BUT MICHAEL WAS TAUGHT THE MOVES BY JEFFREY DANIELS- EX-SOUL TRAIN DANCER, SINGER OF R&B GROUP SHALAMAR, EX-HUSBAND OF STEPHANIE MILLS FROM THE BROADWAY PLAY THE WIZ(A FACT).

Michael, I pray that you now have peace and rest in the arms of Jesus. Your talent was immeasurable and over the entire span of your life you touched millions of other lives.

I speak God's comfort to your family now and in the days, months and years to come.

It's a shame that creepy Michael Jackson had to die today after years of self-abuse, when talented, generous, compassionate Farrah Fawcett fought cancer for the past three years trying to save her life.

    The American media is disgraceful.

Please, this is not the time for peoples' negative comments about Micheal. First of all , you only know what you heard, you weren't there and " all children will be safe now that he's gone?"What earth are you people living on? Look around you fools!!!

Keep your negative comments to yourself. No need to degrade another to shine the light on someone who obviously means alot to you. Your attitude is what makes this world a sick place to live.
