On July 10th, the original Limp Bizkit -- frontman Fred Durst, guitarist Wes Borland, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto and DJ Lethal -- were to play their first U.S. show together in eight years, part of the bare-knuckles, blood-gushing Ultimate Fighting Championship 100 weekend. "We always thought that the UFC and Limp Bizkit's music go hand in hand," Durst, a fan of the sport since it began airing on PayPerView, tells Spinner from a European tour stop. However, Limp Bizkit was forced to cancel the gig this past weekend when the UFC and the band's label, Interscope, could not reach an agreement over DVD rights.
The Bizkit camp also thought the layout of the one-off show -- a stage in front of one of Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay's many pools -- was not the best location for the band's first show back in the U.S., and were opting for the casino's House of Blues. In a statement, the band assured fans, "We are proud to announce that we will still be performing on the same night out of respect for our fans. The details of when and where will follow shortly after this post."
