Simmons has an insatiable need for attention, and thats why he makes dumb comments like this, although he prob does actually believe that glam show garbage he made it on is real rock. Lick It up is a sad, sad reality compared to the virtuousity shown in Santana in Mexico. When I saw that, my mind was blown, and I, too, have a bias against instrumental twaddle, but Santana knows the guitar in a very fluid, particular way. His performance at Woodstock put him in rock history at the 60s pinnacle along with the Who and Hendrix.
Kiss is a mangey mutt at the door scratching to get into heaven. They suck ass. Ozzy is a joke now, but in Sabbath he was also great. Say what you want, but he was a huge lyricist and vocalist of the heaviest (but still musical) band ever. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath..Kiss can't even get within spitting distance of that record.
THe two times I Watched his show, its clear Simmons family is embarassed by his relentless materialism. You can admire the man, but the music? Detroit Rock City - cool, but SHISS took a wrong sell-out turn after that into pure horribleness. Not a discography to be proud of.

Wow, how dumb to you have to be to insult one of the most brilliant musicians of all time when you can barely even play a bass guitar. Kiss were a good band and they were great performers, but Santana has more talent then all four of the original memembers of kiss and all of the crappy replacements combine.

Carlos Santana is a musical genius who has inspired millions worldwide. He does not need face paint and gimmicks and he sure does not put down other musicians. His music has stood the test of time and it is loved by all all generations. Simmons quit your whinning- your lack of talent is showing and you might mess up your pancake makeup!

carlos is a good guitar player.as far as gene i dont think that is a great bass player.kiss just had that gimmick with the makeup and ran with it.i'd rather here carlos and listen to good music.

I think Gene has a good point. Although picking on Carlos was a bit outta line, the point is KISS is entertaining!! I absolutely HATE going to see a band play and they all look un-showered, bed hair, and generally look like they don't care about anything. I guess thats what i get growing up in the 80's with bands like Motley Crue, Poison, Ozzy, AC/DC, and yes KISS. I thank Gene for giving the fans their hard earned moneys worth with a very entertaining show.

If I want to watch a guy run around on stage in makeup I'll go see Alice Cooper. The originator of shock rock...who has more talent than KISS,Manson and Zombie combined.
