On Friday night, Raphael Saadiq did as many musicians did just 24 hours after Michael Jackson died at the age of 50: paid tribute to the King of Pop."God, Thank you for giving us Michael Jackson," he said. "And thank you, Michael, for giving us real music. Your legend can never die."
Saadiq then covered 'I Want You Back' at his gig at the Tokyo Blue Note. Watch the performance after the jump.

I believe that Michael is truly at home; resting and singing with the Angels. His soul was tormented and no one not even us as fans understood how alone he felt. His joy and happiness came with the birth of his children and I don't beleive he would have left this earth knowing he'd leave them behind. While he was unhappy they were the source of joy in his life. Our world and our culture created the mega superstar but we also contributed to his death. The expectation of being the best, on top always; the negative press; allegations; predators and enablers. We should all bow down on our knees and ask forgiveness for our part in destroying the genius that is and will always be Michael Jackson. May he sing and dance among angels forever. There will never be another. May God bless his family and his children as they prepare to live life in his absence.

Thanks Raphael for the tribute to Michael Jackson! He was one of only a handful of musicians that I truly love. I love you, as well because of your kindness. I'm devastated by his passing. I do not think that I'll ever recover from his passing. Thank God for you and your respect for Michael Jackson.
