For her first professional video, up-and-coming Baltimore rapper Rye Rye got a little help from first-time director M.I.A.. "She was very open to stuff, just being herself," Rye Rye says of the shoot. "I didn't feel pressured at all." The pair met originally in a Baltimore studio after M.I.A. heard one of Rye Rye's songs and sought her out. "She told me 'I've been looking for you for the longest time.'" "I didn't want to make a video just for the sake of making it but rather, have a video that represents who she is and where she comes from," M.I.A. tells Spinner. "I thought it was just a natural progression for me to do it because I've known Rye Rye since she was 15."
For the 'Bang' clip, they decided to pay tribute to Rye Rye's hometown. "Baltimore club music is a new genre, our own genre," Rye Rye says. "I keep it hardcore but I'm also in a party spirit. We wanted to show that vibe." Check out the video after the jump.
