Beck Launches Web Interview Series With Waits as First Guest

Once again, Beck has been busy playing with the World Wide Web. In June, the eclectic musician started the Record Club series, where he and his friends cover classic albums by bands like the Velvet Underground, as well as Planned Obsolescence, where you can listen to Beck's sound experiments.

His latest Internet foray is an interview series known as Irrelevant Topics, "featuring conversations between musicians, artists, writers, etc. on various topics, without promotional pretext or editorial direction." Opposed to interviews with a set purpose, Irrelevant Topics will be talks that can -- and will -- go wherever the conversation takes Beck and his guest.

Beck's first interview is with Tom Waits, who has been known to talk about practically anything. Covering an array of topics including lightning, homemade submarines, the Oscar Meier Wienermobile and "best of" lists, this chat ambles in no particular direction but can probably go on forever.

You can find the first part of the Tom Waits here, and Beck promises that the section will be updated "several times a month."
