West Indian Girl 'Believe' in Their B-Sides

The term "B-sides" can imply a certain silver medal status of songwriting, but that's definitely not always the case. For example, West Indian Girl just released 'We Believe,' a collection of B-sides, remixes, and rarities that is definitely not a package of throwaways, or anything of the sort.

"The reason these are b-sides is simply because they didn't make the first record," bassist Francis Ten tells Spinner. And not because they weren't good enough -- they were simply victims of sequencing and space. 'We Believe' also includes unreleased remixes and a super off-the-wall cover of the Beatles' '8 Days a Week' that is worth checking out. "I'm really glad these songs get to see the light of day," says Ten. "It's sort of like finding out you have a teenage child living in Florida and finally getting to meet them ... Wait, that would be a different feeling." Okay, that's not creepy.
