Zooey Deschanel Revels in Her '70s Roots
- Posted on Jul 10th 2009 4:00PM by Steve Baltin
We don't want to give too much away, but one of the true highlights of actress/singer Zooey Deschanel's new flick, '500 Days of Summer,' involves Hall and Oates' 1980 pop smash, 'You Make My Dreams Come True.' Even before seeing the tune set to a dance sequence that surpasses any movie choreography we've seen since 'Moulin Rouge,' Deschanel was an unapologetic fan of the Philly hit-making duo. "I love early Hall and Oates, really early, the Philly years," she tells Spinner, then adding with the fervor of a true fan, "I love Hall and Oates. Don't get me started."Hall and Oates isn't the only '70s iconic duo Deschanel is down with. "A lot of people make fun of the Carpenters. I love the Carpenters and think they're amazing," she says. "Karen Carpenter has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. I like a lot of that sort of '70s soft music."
While many would call both the Carpenters and Hall and Oates guilty pleasures, Deschanel doesn't buy the idea of loving bad pop songs. "I can't, in all good conscience, say that I would be roped in by a bad song because by saying that I'm roped in by it, I'm saying that I like it," she says. "You gotta cop to it. You gotta admit when you think something's good." We're with you, Zooey. And if you ever want to cover Hall and Oates' 'Rich Girl' we'll sing it loud with you.

It only fitting that sombody like Zooey thinks Karen Carpenters voice is beautiful because i think so too.
I also think zooey is so beautiful too.
Okay, I admit it. I'll cop. I am in love with Zooey. She is perfect in every way. I'd get down with some Carpenters
with her any time. She's the hottest and the coolest. In fact, I think I feel a stirring in my loin...
Regardless of her musical tastes Zooey is SOOO hot, I've loved her ever since Almost Famous (one of my favorite films of the last 10-15 years).
