Potent Quotables: Perry's Strict Past
- Posted on Jul 14th 2009 1:00PM by Kim Davis

"Even the Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner was banned. In our house, no one was allowed to refer to deviled eggs. We had to call them angelic eggs." --Katy Perry
The pop tart said she wrote her hit 'I Kissed a Girl' to rebel against her Catholic upbringing, which she referred to as "comically strict."

Don't people do that kind of thing when they are 15?
doesnt matter if its original or not, it was a hit and shes a huge star now. if someone else did something similar then they failed, cuz no one ackknowledges it. who cares? its a fun song. and im glad she rebelled against strict parents. i wonder how they feel now >:) and whoever thinks she cant sing must be tonedeaf -.- just because its not your preference doesnt mean she has no talent. obviously she does, look at her career compared to yours. millions of people love her. how many people love you?

Katy did a great Christian album she released when she was 14 called Katy Hudson, she wrote all the songs, like "Search Me" and "My Faith won't Fail." You can google it. She may not be living the life right now but she still prays and loves the Lord.

I remember attending a Pentecostal church where the pastor was a former Marine. The dress code was unbelievably strict. There was no "mixed bathing", meaning that men and women did not swim together in the same pool. On the night of the mass baptisms, there were extremely strict instructions on how to comport oneself and what to wear. Women were baptized in a series separately from the men's baptisms. It was almost funny.
The pastor's wife was pregnant and the baby had died in utero. She refused to have the baby taken from her until she was sure it was dead, never mind what the doctors said. I couldn't believe that she risked gangrene because having the deceased child taken from her, in her belief system, might be considered abortion if the child were at all viable. Did she think the doctors couldn't tell? I left that group in a hurry.
Does anyone really care?

In my opinion she has no talent, she's not good looking and always dresses ridiculously. No matter what she believes she still needs to honor her parents. Most parents do the best they can, she certainly wasn't abused. If anything, she seems like she is spoiled. If the most abusive thing they did was avoid certain words, well that's hardly torture.

And if they choose to be nondenominational, so be it. its not the end of the world. LET THEM BECOME WHO THEY ARE MEANT TO BE.
July 19 2009 at 1:55 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou can be married and a priest in the Catholic Church. Thing is you have to have been an Episcopal priest first and married then decide to become a Catholic priest. But, you cannot be a Catholic Priest by Holy Orders and then get married, to get married you have to leave the priesthood.
I doubt this kids parents were Catholic. Not having a Dirt Devil? get real. Its a portable vacuum cleaner. Not a satanic object, that's for people who run around kissing snakes and talking with forked tongues or whatever. Deviled eggs? Eat them by the plateful at church picnics.
