"Even the Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner was banned. In our house, no one was allowed to refer to deviled eggs. We had to call them angelic eggs." --Katy Perry
The pop tart said she wrote her hit 'I Kissed a Girl' to rebel against her Catholic upbringing, which she referred to as "comically strict."

Wow, she rebelled against her religious upbringing. She replaced religious dogma with secular dogma. How original. And now she's suing some lady in australia for basically having the same name as her and using it in her business:

Well,well... once again a strict Catholic upbringing produces excellent results! Kudos to Sister Mary Catherine Margret Ellen Noreen Laura..... oh forget it!!! This bit didnt work :(

True, not original. I remember a song back in 1995 by jill soluble called " i kissed a girl"
tarrytownersat 7-16-2009
she can kiss all the girls she wants as long as she uses those DSL's on me.

If both of her parents are/were pastors it is unlikely she was reared catholic, as priests don't marry.
sutongottat 7-19-2009
Her father was a priest and her mother was a nun.

The more religious the parents are, the less self-serious with their religion one of the kids will be OR the less saintly a child will turn out. And none of the religious parents see the point of the irony.

First of all, I had a Catholic upbringing and we never did anything as silly as caling deviled eggs angelic eggs. Second, her father's a minister, so she has to be Protestant.

Yeah, seriously.

The Catholic church does allow men, who are already married, enter and complete seminary. Lord knows, they need all the help they can get.
propac7at 7-19-2009
I have a sister who is strongly into her religion (not catholic). She calls deviled eggs "angel eggs" and told me I should not use the greeting "hello" because it has the word "hell" in it. Go figure.
Being around such "holy" people has let me see that it is all a matter of what "feels" convenient for them.

So sick of the antics of these emty headed celebs. Most of them are nuts anyways.
Litaat 7-19-2009
I worked with a nut job who said that it was a sin use the words "I am" in a sentence and cited as her reference a passage in The Bible. Oh, we all thought she was crazy after she "found the Lord," but that pretty much confirmed it. She also couldn't stop talking about all the men she peformed oral sex on and how some still called her even though she was engaged to marry her fourth husband. Yeah, heck of a "believer."
spiritrising38at 7-18-2009
#1) I can't believe that this is news. And #2) Who cares if she's rebelling or not? I doubt she's had a Catholic upbringing if her parents are ministers. But regardless of what religion she is....rebelling against it is as old as Judaism and Christianity themselves!! It's not news!

I would point out that it was Kim Davis, the person who posted this quote, who claimed that Katy was raised Catholic. Katy does not say that in the quote. Her parents are Evangelical ministers; they are not
Catholic.
