For the first single from their second album, titled 'A Time for Lions' (due Sept. 15), Portland rockers Stars of Track and Field sought inspiration from an unnamed girl, who, to paraphrase guitarist/vocalist Jason Bell, burns her candle at both ends. "We all know people who burn so bright and bring so much energy to situations that it seems at some point this output becomes untenable and relief needs to happen," Bell tells Spinner. "We tried to embody this theme not only lyrically, but also musically. The song is uptempo and relentless in it's arrangement. There is very little to catch your breath before the song is over."
We suggest getting some air now, before listening to the exclusive premiere of 'Racing Lights' after the jump.

I've been a HUGE fan of Stars of Track and Field since the release of 'Centuries Before Love and War.' This new single is fantastic ... they maintain their unique sound, but have stretched into a new realm. I'm going to spend the next two months counting down the days til I can make 'A Time for Lions' all mine!
