Intimate Oasis Gig Has Liam Gallagher Seeing Red

Any Oasis fans planning on working on their beer-throwing routine during any of the Britpop veterans' forthcoming gigs, please read on.

The Gallagher brothers and company were playing London's Roundhouse on Tuesday night -- a venue a fraction of the size of the stadiums Oasis are currently playing on tour -- as part of the iTunes Live festival, resident in the historic rock landmark all of July.

But the intimate gig's atmosphere turned awkward thanks to Liam Gallagher's prolonged temper tantrum, after fans hurled the odd pint or two towards the stage.

Four-letter words aimed at the "students" who'd thrown the pints followed, before Gallagher left the stage with a filthy look on his face six songs into the set, leaving big brother Noel to carry off a glorious version of old B-side 'The Masterplan.'

Liam returned to the stage but that was by no means it. He baited the press -- in particular British rock monthly Q, which recently ran a major piece on the band -- Noel, and even Camden, the north London borough where the venue is situated.

"Is anyone here from Camden Town?" Liam yelled soon after. "F---ing prove it!"

"That gig was ... erm ... very odd," Noel later wrote on his blog on the Oasis Web site, Oasisinet.com. "What'siz'name [Liam] exploded with pretend rage the minute he walked on. Strange cat. Probably on his man period.

"Saying that, it was a full moon'n'all. Didn't notice him getting any more hairy though. Mind you, those that were there seemed to enjoy it, so ... y'know, onwards and sideways."

What seemed to get lost amid the reporting of the frontman's strop was the fact Oasis have rarely sounded so good -- coming on to perform a spectacular version of 'Rock 'n' Roll Star' in a set which sprinkled classics such as 'Cigarettes and Alcohol' with curios like 'Half the World Away' and a particularly dazzling 'Live Forever.'

Quite clearly, however, Liam can't let the music do all the talking.
