Rock music was never meant to be institutionalized, but as far as institutions go, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has preserved that nonconfomrist spirit within its hallowed halls. And now, the Hall announced it will honor that tradition with a pair of anniversary concerts this October.A lineup of legendary artists will converge at what is arguably the most esteemed arena in rock history, NYC's Madison Square Garden, for a two-night celebration of the Hall's 25th birthday. Headliners on October 29 include Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon solo, Stevie Wonder and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Friends. Performers for the following night, October 30, include Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Metallica and U2.
The artists will perform a mix of originals and carefully chosen covers to honor the history and significance of rock music in our culture and lives. We never thought we'd say this, but it's going to be a treat to watch these monsters of rock celebrate "25 years of the establishment."
