Wolfmother Gear Up for 'Killer' Fall Season

Shortly before the Killers took to the stage at this year's Coachella, Wolfmother's Andrew Stockdale sat Spinner down to clarify a few things: Wolfmother is still a band, they have a new album and they plan to tour. Same as it ever was. The only thing that's changed is the band itself: Stockdale is the sole original member of what once was a power trio and is now a four-piece. No matter. The wizard-friendly jams and prog-rock explorations remain in full effect. "Wolfmother could become a massive show," says Stockdale, who envisions pyrotechnics and elaborate set designs in the band's future. "I think my manifesto for the next stage is to turn it into even more of a spectacle."
But before they order up any 18" Stonehenge props or used L.E.D. pyramids, Wolfmother will open for the Killers on six dates, beginning August 31 in Columbia, MD. Then, in February of next year, the band will team up with their Australian forebears, AC/DC, for a swing down under.
Wolfmother's new album, 'Cosmic Egg' is set for release on October 13 while the single 'Back Round,' as featured on the band's MySpace, gets the 'Guitar Hero' treatment sometime before then. No word yet on whether or not 'Cosmic Egg' will be included in specially marked editions of Dungeons and Dragons.
