Hockey, 'Wanna Be Black' -- Video Premiere

Reflecting upon their past video attempts, Hockey guitarist Brian White tells Spinner that "some bands are easier to understand visually than we are." What he means is the Oregon band isn't one of those groups you can watch on YouTube and immediately categorize as being, say, indie rock or -- on the other end of the spectrum -- a pop act. "It falls somewhere dead center of that," says White. With so little information available on Hockey, even on the all-knowing internet, festivals like this summer's Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza are proving to be grand introductions to what Hockey sounds like, as well as what they look like on stage. The same could be said about this video for 'Wanna Be Black.' In fact, it's a live performance video, filmed on a sound stage in London. "Everybody's making dance music now, true," sings frontman Ben Grubin. "But we started in 2002." Actually, dance music was around slightly before then, but still, as evidenced in this video, Hockey shoots and scores.
