Lioness, 'You're My Heart' -- New Video

Toronto's dark-hued disco-rockers Lioness delve into the past for their silent film-inspired new video.

"The 'You're My Heart' video is rooted in the concept of parallel universes, or other planes of existence," singer Vanessa Fischer tells Spinner. "It draws connections between alchemy, sorcery, science and eternal love."

In keeping with Lioness' DIY aesthetic, the band's beatsmith Jeff Scheven directed the video (adding to his résumé, which also includes vids for TV on the Radio, the Organ, DFA1979 and his former group Controller.Controller), while Fischer, whose day job is as a costumer designer, made all the outfits.

Fischer took her "dark magical" fashion cues from the robot in Fritz Lang's 'Metropolis,' Busby Berkley musicals, Barbarella and 'Sleeping Beauty's' evil Queen Maleficent.

Lioness' squalling synths, pulsing beats and Fischer's howl have just hit the road for a co-headlining jaunt with Winnipeg hip-hop band Grand Analog.
