West Indian Girl Aren't Marrying Trent Reznor

Although they just released a new album, West Indian Girl made bigger headlines earlier this year when band member Mariqueen Maandig got engaged to Nine Inch Nails ringleader Trent Reznor. "His loyal and massive core fanbase is aware of us [now]," bassist Francis Ten tells Spinner. "As a result, there have been a few converts to our music and that's been great because normally I'm not sure if these people would have ever heard of us. It's a testament to these fans' open-mindedness and acceptance. At this point in our career, every little bit helps." That said, Ten says that Reznor really isn't pulling any hidden strings or even doing any friendly, armchair quarterbacking for the band. "I think the only person that it is making a noticeable difference for is Mariqueen," Ten says. "Keep in mind, he's getting married to 'Q' and not the band."
Good point. In fact, according to Ten, Reznor hasn't even seen West Indian Girl live yet. "I'm pretty sure he's been very busy with something called a world tour right now," says Ten. "I'm sure he will be kickin' it with 'Q' at a show in the future though. That would be a safe bet."
Another safe bet? West Indian Girl isn't going to slow down any time soon. Fans who already digested their latest album, 'We Believe,' can look forward to an EP of new material this fall. The release will, decidedly, not feature Reznor on any tracks but it will, according to Ten, be "darker and heavier." Coincidence? We think so.

Oh God, Trent Reznor pushing another fucking dumb band. Except this time the band has his porno girlfriend in it. I went to one of WIGs neighborhood "bar" concerts and it SUCKED. No way this band is going anywhere. Reznor's girlfriend can't sing - no voice range and not in tune. And she sings backup although they put her center stage so she can spread her legs. The rest of the band isn't tight, songs are often monotonous, and their sound is not unique. The most glaring problem on "'We Believe" is the lackluster production and lack of talent.

you didnt read the article did you? "Ten says that Reznor really isn't pulling any hidden strings or even doing any friendly, armchair quarterbacking for the band." i don't think any of will take your comment with anything more than a grain of salt considering you seem a little biased against rez. sut i'm curious, if NIN and WIG isn't your thing, what is?

I saw WIG at a bar last year too. Their sound is awful and boring to watch. Their music is like some kind of 60s hippy crap. After listening to them, I can see why they were never signed by a record label. I can't believe that Reznor is NOT going to help promote them, afterall, he took the band on vacation with him a couple of months ago. Also, WIG announced Reznor's engagement.
