Vampire Weekend Weather the Rain at All Points West

While most people thought the torrential rains cursed All Points West this year, Vampire Weekend think it's a lucky charm. As the band waited for their time to step onto the festival's main stage, the storm finally hit New Jersey's Liberty State Park, and Vampire Weekend applauded. "We have a history of getting rained on," bassist Chris Baio tells Spinner.

The band recalls their most memorable rainy day performance when they went head to head with a storm at a Central Park SummerStage show in New York last June. "That was one of our best shows ever, and it was extremely rainy," lead singer Ezra Koenig says. "It was a monsoon."

But heavy winds and downpours didn't stop Vampire Weekend from taking the stage. The band played their 50-minute set with the same energy and ease as if it were a sunny day. And before they ended the show, a drenched Koenig thanked everyone for weathering the storm with them. "At first, we thought we were going to die, and now we're just having fun!" he said.
