New Jersey's Gaslight Anthem were set to make their All Points West debut this past weekend, but their set was canceled due to inclement weather. We thought they were nice enough guys when they sat down with us a few months ago but now their fans can feel the love too. In a show of generosity, the band is offering to buy anyone who missed their All Points West set a drink. Just come to their October 15 gig at New York City's Terminal 5 and have your Sunday ticket stub ready. "Needless to say, we were and still are extremely disappointed that we weren't allowed to perform for everyone who came out to se us, braving the terrible weather, the mud, the lightning and the extremely delayed door time," the band wrote via MySpace.
"With this small gesture, we want to show all of you who were at APW how grateful we are that you made the effort to come out and see us. While we're incredibly bummed that things turned out as they did, we're also humbled by the e-mails and messages we've gotten from so many of you, and by your support of us, even when days like yesterday happen."
The redemption process is simple: present your stub to the ID check folks and they'll exchange it for a drink ticket that allows for a beer, soda or water. Their small deed follows the large gesture the APW organizers made on Friday when they told the damp crowd that they all could come back for Saturday or Sunday for free. While that was nice and all, we can't help but think that a band offering to possibly buy a few hundred beverages out of their own pocket is way cooler.
The Gaslight Anthem will continue a short festival run with stops at this weekend's Lollapalooza, followed by the Leeds and Reading festivals at the end of this month. They're set to kick off a headlining club tour September 8 in Pittsburgh.
