Gene Simmons Responds to Reznor's Diss

Gene Simmons has finally hit back at Trent Reznor over remarks the Nine Inch Nails frontman made last month against the Kiss bassist. Speaking to the Phillipines' Daily Inquirer in July, Reznor said, "I'd never want to be Gene Simmons, an old man who puts on makeup to entertain kids, like a clown going to work."

At the time Reznor was speaking about his decision to stop touring, adding, "In my paranoia, I fear that if I don't stop this, it could become that. Because it's nice to get a paycheck, and now the only way to get a paycheck is to play live." And now Simmons has finally responded to the diss in the "Letters" section of his official website. "No worries. Trent grew up on Kiss and cut his teeth on our toons," he wrote. "When he was recording 'Downward Spiral,' he had two action figures on his mix console -- Jesus and Gene Simmons."

Simmons adds, "Once you're a self confessed heroin addict, who used the stuff for years, you don't look at life the way the rest of us do ... I'm told. We all wish him well."

We're not sure how Trent will respond but one thing is for sure -- we're finally missing out due to his lack of Twitter musings.

Well, I think Reznor has far more talent than Gene Simmons ever could dream of - case closed, however, they are both trailblazers for their generations...Kiss was a fun act with great popularity, but their music does not stand the test of time. Trent Reznor's music is original and powerful - it almost feels like a religious experience listening to his songs...he so reminds me of John Lennon - his honesty and brilliance are second to none. NIN puts on the greatest live show of any band going...I wish he wouldn't stop touring.

While Mettalica was good they havent had a decent record since The Black Albumn and they are not what they used to be by any means..they dont need videos and commercials to sell records? Ummm well they have made more videos in the last 10 years then most bandsa and self promote with the best. guess you dint see the large dvd release showing their breakup and James in theropy hmm that was promoted and sold to get fans back interested for a new album. I liked them but they are a band that lost the love for the music althought they are good at suing fans now adays and hugging it out.

Wait a sec...haven't put out a good album in 10 years??Load was a good album so was reload and garage inc. their new album has done awesome and was nominated for a grammy. Death Magnetic sounds more like the old stuff. For your reply to promoting drug abuse they weren't promoting it..it was a fact of life that was breaking the band up. Suing fans..you mean napster? What artist wouldn't sue if thier music was copyright infringed. Sorry to say of all the records in the past years thier worst song is still better than Beth..Beth give me a break. So what they promoted one DVD look at Kiss everywhere you turn you have Simmons somewhere. You tell me how many albums has Kiss put out in the last 10 years. You name any hit Kiss has had and I will top it with a Metallica hit. Much better band case closed!!!

Those mettallica albums were mediocre at best. They are not whatt hey were Nothing compared to the days of Ride the Lighting or And Justice for all. Back when this bad was a real bad. I dont have a problem with promotion I was responding to the aqusatiopn Kiss were nothing but a promotion money band yeah thats true and I pointed out Metallica did the same as it was stated they didnt do that stuff. Not sure what you mean about promting drug use as I didnt comment on promoting it I commented on the fact they made the cd for profit and new promotion to get fans back for a new cd release. And no not napster all thought t the free music downloads like bit torrents are great as I dfo own an indie hip hop label and its the best promotional tool out there and it makes you a ton of money in differet avenues. the ones to blam for the free downloads is the music industry itsself. Cds were the death of physical music sales. Never should have been used but too late now

LOL trent the has been is talking about Gene Simmons and kiss? A group that made it possibnle for him to be able to have a job and a paycheck? The group who helped establish rock and roll as mainstream with videos and large shows that enetertains. TYrent sorry your just a hype and keep sucking that glass well lets say pipe on here. You owe Gene Simmons and Kiss a Thank you so you can still have money to shoot up your heroine because without them youd be sucking dick for cheeseburgers. Gene and Kiss an Icon now and always keep rock n and rolling taking care of business and family. Thanks for the years of music and enteratinment

would you dumb MFs quit bashing NIN? So the guy said something stupid, that doesnt make it bad band, it doesnt mean he can't sing, and Gene Simmons is just as if not more arrogant to beleive that everyone worships him. ALL ROCK STARS HAVE EGOS! GET OVER IT

Yes, KISS has been around for years! I was 14 years old when I first heard KISS. I am 47 now. KISS ALIVE was my first album. My grandson heard KISS when he was 4 or 5 and he loves KISS. I didn't introduce him to KISS. I turned him onto Disturbed (who he also loves). He doesn't care for Nine Inch Nails AT ALL. Some of their stuff is ok. We all love KISS in my house. I can't wait until KISS comes around again so I can take my grandson. I have seen them 5 times. Nine Inch Nails - zero! Gene is the KING!! Long live Gene Simmons!

It's amazing to me how tacky celebrities can be toward each other like they have nothing better to with their time and don't have enough to be thankful for!! Simmons handled himself well as he always does. Sure, Gene is aging but he will always be a rock icon and that other guy, whatever-his-name-was, can only dream. I have alot more respect and admiration for Gene than I do Ozzie Osbourne and his trainwreck-of-a-family.

Neither group created music a fraction as creative as, say, The Beatles or Dylan, or even the plethora of very good groups from the sixties. I pity people whose generation had such mediocre music.

However, that said, Simmons comes off like the adult in this dialogue.
