Steven Tyler Airlifted to Hospital After Falling Off Stage

It's beginning to look like Aerosmith's current tour is cursed. During a concert in South Dakota last night, frontman Steven Tyler fell off the stage and had to be airlifted to a local hospital for minor injuries.

According to the Rapid City Journal, the incident happened at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally at the Buffalo Chip Campground in Sturgis, South Dakota. Halfway into the set, the sound system failed while the band was playing 'Love in an Elevator.' The 61-year-old Tyler decided to keep the crowd entertained by dancing on the stage's catwalk but his showmanship ultimately proved disastrous as he fell backwards into the crowd.

Security quickly got to Tyler and brought him backstage, where he was evaluated by a doctor and determined to have head, neck and shoulder injuries. Around 25 minutes after the fall, guitarist Joe Perry returned to the stage to announce that Tyler would have to go to the hospital and the concert was over. Tyler was then taken by helicopter to Rapid City Regional Hospital. It's unclear how serious any of his injuries might be or if he was released from the hospital yet.

This is the latest in a string of maladies suffered by Aerosmith on their current tour with ZZ Top. The band was forced to postpone seven shows after Tyler hurt a leg muscle during a concert, guitarist Brad Whitford missed the beginning of the tour after undergoing surgery after hitting his head in his Ferrari and bassist Tom Hamilton had to sit out several shows after a "non-invasive surgery." This comes after Joe Perry's knee surgery earlier this year forced the band to delay work on its latest studio album.
