Temper Trap Rock the 'Summer' at Spinner

If you've seen '500 Days of Summer,' or even just the original trailer for the film, you've heard the Temper Trap's soaring single, 'Sweet Disposition.' Here at Spinner, we were already familiar with their catchy, atmospheric songs, but the band treated us to something even sweeter when they recently stopped by our New York headquarters: their first-ever acoustic performance. The Australian group stripped down their sound to play 'Sweet Disposition,' 'Fader' and 'Science of Fear' from 'Condition' -- due out in the US on October 13 -- and they told us how the name Temper Trap came to be.
"I wish we had some amazing story to tell, but we had a day to rename our band," drummer Lorenzo Sillitto told Spinner. "We were once upon a time called Temper Temper, and we were gonna be sued by the original Temper Temper who was from Milwaukee, or somewhere in this country."
But the Temper Trap aren't holding any grudges against America. In fact, when we asked them what their favorite place they've played has been, Sillitto assured us it was indeed "right here -- my favorite place in the world."
"You should definitely come and see our show if you get the chance," Sillitto added. "It's a lot different than the four of us sitting here right now."
"We actually stand up!" frontman Dougy Mandagi cracked.
"We sweat a little, as well," Sillitto said.
The Temper Trap are set to hit the U.S. again in October to embark on a five-week tour, including a couple of CMJ showcases in New York.
