Ida Maria Bares All at Lollapalooza

Day Two of Lollapalooza brought many gifts, including sunlight, warmth and, well, Ida Maria in gold lamé. The punky Norwegian took the stage in a shiny dress and matching high tops on the sweltering, sweaty Saturday afternoon, where she was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd, including one fan who, in addition to knowing all the words to every song, distributed lollipops and refreshing spritzes from his spray bottle -- all of which he carried in his toolbelt.

"Do you like Jack Daniels?" Maria asked the audience, somewhat rhetorically, before an upbeat performance of 'Louie.' She explained that the song is about doing "stupid things" like "dancing on tables" and "feeling like you're the queen of the world," which, for the next 40 minutes, she was. Before breaking into the infectious 'Forgive Me,' she addressed one of her favorite topics: boy trouble. "Anyone ever had an experience with a man?" she asked, "Or, I guess, a boy. They aren't always grown up." Then the thinkable happened: her dress popped open, exposing her bright pink bra.

Her top half exposed to the merciful breeze, Maria and the audience caught a second wind. "Take off your shirt," she began to sing, hip-checking an invisible dance partner on the stage. "Oh yeah baby!" she sang, when a fan ripped off his t-shirt. Of course, this was the perfect setup for her singalong favorite, 'I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked,' which was met with pumping fists, synchronized clapping and a sudden rash of shirt removals.

Maria would later douse herself in water, pop open another button on her dress and launch into a wet-and-wild performance of 'You Think I'm in Control.' And just to prove how punk she really is, she ended it all with a raucous cover of Iggy Pop's 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' -- twirling and writhing to reveal that yes, she was wearing matching pink undies.

I love her music, wish I would've been there! And yes, she definitely is Norwegian.

This is the first time I have heard of this performer. Sounds like she made a good thing out of a bad situation. crap happens. might as well keep your head up.

Nice that she finally has gotten the audience she deserves; playing for a Norwegian crowd is....suicidally hair-rippingly boring....

Funny incident at last years Øya Festival in Oslo...under a bright, summer-filled sky, mrs Ida Maria had had it apparently and flipped the audience a verbal bird...concert=movement....where did poging go?
