The Decemberists Cover Heart's 'Crazy on You'

Though the trickle down effect is most often used in economics, the same idea can apply to a huge festival like Lollapalooza. Sound silly? Follow us, here: with 130 bands stopping in Chicago for the summer's most massive fest, many spots around the Midwest have benefitted with a week packed with shows from bands coming from or going to Grant Park.

That was the case Saturday night when the Decemberists stopped by Indianapolis, Indiana, after the band's Friday set at Lollapalooza. Music fans in the sports-heavy city couldn't have been more grateful -- especially when the band bashed through a riveting second set after the usual full 'Hazards of Love' performance.

Along with Decemberists standbys like 'O Valencia,' 'Billy Liar' and the show finale 'Sons and Daughters,' the band played the half-kidding 'Dracula's Daughter,' which front man Colin Meloy called "The worst song I've ever written."

But with Hazards vocalists Shara Worden (of My Brightest Diamond) and Becky Stark (of Lavender Diamond) in tow, the Decemberists couldn't let their talent go unused once the first set wrapped up. Two female vocalists, a whole load of guitars and a band known for its idiosyncrasies -- what to do? Play Heart, of course.

After a misleading folky acoustic intro, the Decemberists leaped into Heart's 'Crazy on You,' complete with dually howling Diamond singers and some actual guitar shredding.

Looks like the rock opera isn't the only thing the band is reviving from the '70s.
