Fans of Dungen can attest to the power of their live show. Frontman Gustav Ejstes's compositions are often long and winding, with his falsetto taking listeners into places that are often described as "epic" and "mind-blowing." You'd think that such accolades would surely make the decision to release a live album at some point inevitable, but don't expect one anytime soon. "The thing about playing live is you have to let it go. It's like a flow. You can't retake anything," Ejstes tells Spinner. "That's the problem and the beautiful thing."

Ejstes says they have concerts recorded but there's one big hurdle really getting in the way. "So far, I haven't felt like putting anything on record that way," he says. "I'm still too much of a control freak. I want the production to be just as I want it to be."

The Swedish psych-rock act is currently on a North American tour in support of 2008's '4.' This past winter, he'd begun laying the groundwork for the group's sixth album but that didn't really go so well. "I have new ideas, but it's a funny thing," he says. "I've always had a set up in my home for recording. My computer and my mic were set up and I was ready to press it. But last December, my computer broke down. Now this spring, I've come up with new ideas, playing acoustic guitar. It'll be interesting to see what happens."
