Depeche Mode Cancel Gig Due to Another Dave Gahan Illness

Following Depeche Mode's headlining Lollapalooza set this past weekend, frontman Dave Gahan has been ordered to be on complete vocal rest for 48 hours by doctors, according to a post on the band's website. This forces the New Wave band to cancel Wednesday night's concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.

"San Francisco is one of the most important cities to the band and we are devastated that we have been forced to cancel this date," Gahan said -- not out loud, we assume -- via a statement. "We hope to be back soon to play for all of our fans in the area."

This is not the first time Depeche Mode have been forced to postpone a live gig due to a Gahan ailment. The band, currently promoting their twelfth studio album, 'Sounds of the Universe,' was forced to postpone three weeks of their tour this past May when Gahan got sidelined, first with the stomach flu and then when doctors found a tumor on his bladder. Although the tour picked up again in June, the final two stops of the European leg were canceled after Gahan injured his leg during the
Bilbao BBK Live Festival in Spain on July 9.

Depeche Mode won't be able to make it back to the Bay Area this year "
because of their busy schedule," the statement said. All Shoreline ticketholders are urged to get a refund at the point of purchase.

With all of Gahan's sicknesses and injuries, you'd think he was a member of Aerosmith.
