Placebo's Brian Molko (pictured) fainted onstage at the band's concert in Osaka in Japan on Monday, with a statement by the band later blaming a virus and the effects of jetlag on his collapse.Molko had been diagnosed with an unspecified virus but was reported to be "recovering well" after medical treatment.
On their MySpace page, the band apologised to fans for missing the show.
"It is always incredibly disappointing when a show cannot take place for any reason, particularly on this occasion due to Brian being unwell, as we have looked forward for such a long time to these shows in Japan!" the statement read.
"We have undertaken a gruelling and intensive schedule over the last few months and the last couple of weeks alone played five countries in nine days. Brian picked up a virus which coupled with jet lag and exhaustion caused his collapse on stage. Thanks to prompt and professional care Brian is recovering well."The band also said they hoped to arrange "new dates in Japan very soon. We love your country and can't wait to come back".
The band are due to play Hungary's Sziget Festival this weekend, with an appearance at Belgium's Pukkelpop the week after and the Reading/Leeds Festivals at the end of the month, before embarking on tours in North American and Europe that will keep them on the road until mid-December.
