Simian Mobile Disco are clearly known for straight-up techno music, but on their new album, 'Temporary Pleasure,' they decided to add more vocals to the mix with an all-star indie cast that includes Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, Yeasayer's Chris Keating and the Gossip's Beth Ditto. Although the London DJ duo has enlisted a stellar group of talent, there are still some artists that they would love to work with."There are loads of people," SMD's Jas Shaw tells Spinner. "We're still, still trying to chase down Nick Cave. But we'll get to him sooner or later. He can't run forever."
James Ford also revealed that they also tried to get a hold of Andre 3000 but unfortunately that hasn't happened either. "They're just two of many amazing vocalists in the world," Ford says. "It's just the case of who's around, who's up for it, who can fit it into their schedule. There's definitely a lot of people we're excited to work with."
While Simian Mobile Disco have yet to work with Cave or Andre, they're ecstatic about the collaborations on 'Temporary Pleasure,' especially Ditto's track, 'Cruel Intentions.' "It sort of came out of nowhere for a bit," Ford says. "We sort of knew we wanted to do a singy-Detroit sort of tune. She really nailed the vocal, and it's got a real good feel about it. So we're really happy about that tune."
The album is due out Aug. 18.
