New Delhi-born, Vancouver-raised rocker Bif Naked is known for being, well, nakedly honest in her oft-autobiographical songwriting, a tact that only works when your life is worth singing about. "I have a million stories from my experiences," she assures Spinner. "I have already lived a thousand lifetimes and the crazy stuff just keeps coming."Bif's current album,'The Promise,' partly recounts her recent struggle with breast cancer. But this video -- lensed by digital artist Amir Aziz in Vancouver's historic Gastown district on a typically rainy day -- is for a song that delves further into the singer's past.
"'King of Karma' is about a beautiful South-Asian boy I was rolling with. One day he showed up on the front page of the newspaper as 'missing' and I knew I would never see him alive. It was tremendously heartbreaking," she says. "The song is my reaction to the perps who committed this heinous crime. I believe strongly in karmic laws, and I know they are likely suffering from their own shame."
