    Kate Earl Takes Back Alaska

When there's an Alaskan in the room, it's pretty hard not to ask what they think of Sarah Palin. So, when rising singer Kate Earl stopped by the Spinner offices, we couldn't help but bring up the now ex-governor. "She really trashed my state!" the Anchorage native told us. Once listeners hear her soulful voice, jazzy instrumentals and catchy hooks, though, Earl's music is bound to help her repair the image of the 49th state.

After she let us hear snippets from her self-titled debut album, which is out now, Earl gave us a live, acoustic taste of her music. She performed an intimate take of her song 'Nobody' then decided to pay her tribute to the recently-deceased King of Pop, though in an unconventional way. "When I first learned to play this song, I thought Michael Jackson wrote it," she said, referring to Smokey Robinson's 'Who's Lovin' You.' The song, famously covered by the Jackson 5, was a perfect showcase of Earl's talents: with the stripped down sounds of an acoustic guitar, her powerful voice took center stage, evoking the heartbreak of Robinson's lyrics and reminding us that there are big things in store for this Alaska native.

Who cares what a singer thinks about anything. What exactly is her education and qualification level? Why is this garbage even being printed? All this does is expose exactly where you are coming from and it makes you, not Sarah Palin look bad.

Typical right wing republican dribble from someone probably from the lower 48. Most of us who own and operate small businesses in Alaska were hurt by Palin policies, especially those in the tourism industry (one of the top employers in the state of Alaska). Questioning an Alaskan and saying they are not qualified to give an opinion on a one term governor who couldn't even fulfill her commitment and finish out her term is extremely narrow minded, and further to question them based on their education level. Before you decide to challenge mine, I've got a graduate degree in Political Science, so don't go there.

What are Palin's qualifications if you are going to attack someone else on that basis. She was not even a full term governor of a state that has a smaller population than a major metropolitan area such as Chicago. On top of that she quit; I did not really have a problem with her until then - how can you vote for someone to hold public office, if they won't even finish the term they were elected for???

Just because your education cost thousands and thousands of dollars does not mean that the person who did not spend that much money is not intelligent.

You Nailed It !!!!! This wasn't about the singer's talents...they could care less about her !!!! She was only here because she was from Alaska and gave the right answer to their questions !!!!

So Hunter, You complain your small business was hurt by Palin's policies? You boast of a graduate degree in political science. When are your fellow Alaskans going to see you leave your little souvenir shop and put YOUR name on their ballot? (Or are you just another typical drivel-spewing liberal democrat)?

challenging someone's education in defense of Sarah Palin is like challenging someone's patriotism in defense of Benedict Arnold.

Why don't you question the educational background of people like Rush and what they sold for a living before selling you on their consevative line of bull.

Last time I checked, singers were U.S. citizens and voters and were subject to the same freedoms and rights that everyone else enjoys. Just because she doesn't favor the woman who's rear end you obviously have your head up doesn't mean she doesn't have the right to voice her opinion. Or maybe you think you're the only one who had that right? What's your education and qualification level?

Joyce, the only one that makes Palin look dumb is herself. Any intelligent woman or man made the choice not to vote for her. We live in America so we all have a right to voice our opinion about Palin. We did so in November at the polls. She failed Alaska and she surely would have failed America.

    To hunter:
Glad to know you have a PS degree. Now, My understanding is she had to step down because AK law does not allow or alot funds for civil/criminal charges against the governor. How many things were alleged against her since she ran for VP and continue to mount up? One thins I will not accept is a blanket comment of someone screwing everything up, mostly heard from my liberal buds. What specifically did the former governor sign in to law that did such a thing? Standing by for real examples.

It is her opinion of Sarah Palin. Just like you probably have an opinion of Sarah Palin. I, too, have an opinion of Sarah Palin, and I am educated from Stanford. Yet, like most, I, too, think Sarah Palin is a complete idiot. Just like "ALL" of her Republican associates in office. What was your level of education by the way? Oh, you mangaged to forget to mention. Didn't you? As for the next comment, probably only about .0003 percent of the fan base was lost. And those would have been the ones that would have shoplifted her CD's anyway. Have a good day!
