Placebo have had to postpone their entire North American tour. The band had been due to start a North American tour in Portland, Ore. on Sept. 10 but have been forced to pull all of the gigs because of a virus frontman Brian Molko contracted last week.As previously reported on Spinner, Molko collapsed at the Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka, Japan last week. He is now back at his home in London and has been told by a doctor to get six weeks' rest.
"This is pretty devastating for everyone -- we've only ever cancelled three shows in Placebo's 14-year history, however Brian's health is paramount," a statement by the band's management said.
The tour, scheduled until early October, would have run to 19 dates, including three in Canada and one in Mexico. The band's statement also read: "Our sincere apologies go out to Placebo's loyal American fans who have waited a long time to see the band. We will try and do everything to re-arrange the dates as soon as possible".
Fans have been told their tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase.
