Smashing Pumpkins Name 19-Year-Old as New Drummer + More

19-year-old Portland native Mike Byrne has officially been named the new Smashing Pumpkins drummer. He will make his debut on the band's upcoming album and promotional tour. Byrne was chosen after the Pumpkins posted an open call for a new drummer. According to a new documentary, 'Coming Back for More,' funk legend Sly Stone has been hit hard financially and is now relying on Social Security and living in cheap hotel the make ends meet. The film alleges that this is due to a financial agreement made with his manager in the '80s, which has since terminated his access to royalties.
KCRW will be hosting Quentin Tarantino tomorrow for a chat about the directors new film, 'Inglourious Basterds.'
