Muse Frontman Panicked About the End of the World

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy says he went off the deep end recently when he began believing the conspiracy theories he was researching for the band's forthcoming album 'The Resistance'. It seems that Bellamy thought that the world was about to end and -- of the belief that his homeland might run out of food within a fortnight -- went on a panic-stricken shopping spree where he loaded up on 50 cans of baked beans and even armed himself with an axe. "I read somewhere a seven-day blockade and the UK would run out of oil," Bellamy tells The Sun. "Another seven days and we'd run out of food. That's why I bought the beans. The axe would chop firewood."
Although Bellamy's psychologist girlfriend, Gaia Polloni, tried to ease his fears, he had trouble letting go of the paranoia that helps inform much of Muse's new material, including the lead track 'Uprising,' which explores global civil unrest.
"She's Italian," Bellamy explained. "They've seen it all there. The Roman Empire came and went. She's more laid back about history and politics. "But to me it all feels so tenuous sometimes, especially in the UK. We are an island and are vulnerable."
Honestly, Matt, if we were in the UK we'd be more worried about Amy Winehouse getting back together with her ex than some sort of doomsday scenario.

Well, yes, we're italian, we've seen it all. I still remember the bloody days of the roman empire when I was just a child...

LOL, what a nutcase. I think someone needs to tell this kid to lay off the mushrooms. They're starting to affect his way of thinking.
