Stardeath and White Dwarfs, 'Age of the Freak' -- Video Premiere

When your uncle is Wayne Coyne and the rest of your band served time as crew members for the Flaming Lips' road show, you must understand that people are going to have high and wild creative expectations. And while Stardeath and White Dwarfs' video for 'Age of the Freak' is suitably psychedelic eye-candy, frontman Dennis Coyne admits that it was actually just kind of a happy accident. "We were working on the video for 'New Heat,' our single, and we had some extra time," Dennis tells Spinner. "So we just shot a quick couple-take thing for 'Age of the Freak,' just for the hell of it."

When the director, George Salisbury, wanted to use the footage to experiment with a crazy editing technique called datamoshing (as used by Kanye West in 'Welcome to Heartbreak'), the band let him run with it. There's no denying how cool it is to have Wayne behind the project, but it's the freaky music from the kids on the other side of it that make this video one to watch.
