"I smoke pot; I don't see it as being seedy or dirty." --Paolo Nutini
While the Scottish singer-songwriter makes no apologies for his extra-curricular activities, he does acknowledge that marijuana has certain "mental health implications of course." Of course.

Agreed!! But if that ever happened the FDA would buckle under as well as the drug companies. There would be no more need for the Valium and Xanaxes and the sleep aids therefore the doctors wont get those free vacations, theatre tickets and free medical equiptment. Prescriptions are like green stamps.. the more you hand out the more cool stuff you can get and this is fact!! Why give mexico the billions each year for the crop. We could use those billions here but again.. that's just common sense. And dont hand me that crap about abuse either.. More legal drugs are abused in this country than ever before and there is no tracking ever done when they doctor shop to get Oxyconton and the rest. Obama wants health reform.. Try starting there first

Who are you idiots. All of you agreeing to let pot in. Well wake up it is just as bad as the others come to think of it worse and i will tell you why. Coming from someone who know it doesnt stop at pot. So I am guessing alot of you are jobless secret pot and coke or shrooms or whatever the rage is now. My brother to this day defends pot and his mind is mush. Went from pot to everything else. It happens. Maybe you all need interventions.

Your name says it all. Make your argument on the drugs own merits. There are people who can't handle booze. but most of them try to be productive members of society. I've never met anyone who smoked more than once or twice a week who wasn't a slacker idiot.
So you just keep on blowin that bone.

Whoever wrote this part about marijuana as should be "legal and is better than alcohaul" is Completes and utterly the most impressive person to write on this forum. I stopped drinking alcohol and solely smoke pot. Reasons why? 1. i never get violent, when i tell my wife im smoking she encourages it cause i guess im more affectionate towards here and i do more round the house. 2. i never once blacked out on marijuana and done something really stupid or made horrible choices cuz i was to drunk. too much to write if i told you bout all the negatives alcohol caused me to do i will say alcohol is the biggest gateway drug never wanted to try coke until i was drunk one night and everyone else was doing it. been around the shit plenty of times high tho and didnt want to even look at the shit. 3. well screw the numbers i can tell you this would you rather weed be regulated instead of having to buy it from a dealer who is going to try to press harder drugs on you, cuz i can assure you that i will never go into my 7/11 to purchase marijuana and have the clerk if i want to try this new drug? plus it will be harder for underage kids to get a hold of. think about it weird theory, but requiring an ID to purchase?!?! sh!t!!!! look all the positive things legalizing would do and how it will keep it out of our childrens hands.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! YOU HAVE HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR 30 SOME ODD YRS. IT'S JUST A SHAME THAT THE GOV'T CAN'T HEAR ME.
sweetthangat 9-01-2009
how old are u still wet behind the ears is what I am reading yeah and pot kills brain cells just like the booze kids think they know everything and honey I'll bet I got kids older then u just when u thought u knew something
BiTcHat 9-01-2009
you're an idiot. If pot was legal it would be taxed and there would be limits to how "high" you could legally be. It would also be mass produced by the government and the quality would be lowered. Crop farmers would mostly be out of a job, or be charged to grow their plants. You should put a little knowledge into that street scum brain of yours. cops aren't "pigs" especially if youre talking about knowing the cops. Simple ass bitch

Marijuana use can be traced as far back as the Neolithic era (8,000-5,000 BC), where charred remains of cannabis seeds have been unearthed in ancient braziers of present day Romania
Marijuana is used medicinally to fight chronic pain, spasticity from multiple sclerosis, nausea and vomiting in HIV patients, as well as the nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy.
Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were known to grow Cannabis on their plantations in the 1700s, most likely for the production of hemp.
A 1999 report published by the Federation of American Scientists found that U.S. taxpayers paid on average $1.2 billion to support the almost 60,000 people incarcerated for marijuana charges. The number of arrests was higher in 2006 than it was in 1999, so the cost is probably even greater currently. 50% of inmates incarcerated are there for non-violent crimes (possession) involving marijuana. Lets free up space and incarcerate the real criminals. According to the FBI, 800,000 people were arrested on marijuana charges in 2006 in the United States. Nearly 90% of these arrests were for marijuana possession. So where is our money going exactly? Well …..
Annual Causes of Death in United States relating to:
Tobacco 435,000
Poor Diet and Physical activity 365,000
Alcohol 85,000
Microbial Agents 75,000
Toxic Agents 55,000
Motor Vehicle Crashes 26,347
Prescription Drugs 32,000
Suicide 30,622
Firearms 29,000
Homicide 20,308
Sexual Behaviors 20,000
Illicit Drug Use, direct and indirect not including marijuana 17,000
Non-Steroidial Anti Inflammatory Drugs such as Aspirin 7,600
MARIJUANA 0
There has never been a reported case that marijuana was directly related to any death. Now is that something else?
Do your homework people. Where as it might not ever become legal, marijuana use should definitely be de-criminalized. The pot trade, if there were one, in the USA would pull this country out of debt in a New York minute. It would provide plenty of jobs. It would give people with an illness such as MS or HIV another means of reducing their nausea other than the famed prescription drug route, which consequently breaks people’s checkbooks everyday. Let’s start using our brains and not our misguided beliefs.
Al Mersat 9-01-2009
Pot should be legalized. Smoking pot does NOT lead to other drugs! I'm sure it has for some people but they would have turned to harder drugs anyway. People who drink are always committing violent crimes. Pot smokers do not! There are so many health risks associated with alcohol. There is no way you can compare pot use to alcohol.
rkeith306at 9-01-2009
I don't consider marijuana a drug in the sense like cocaine or heroine...
I'd rather toke than have a drink any day. There's nothing to apologize for! Way to go! Don't let these holier than thou religious morons influence you!
WhaHuh?at 9-01-2009
Um, it has very little to do with "religious morons". Marijuana being illegal is a political thing, not a religious one. It wasn't illegal until the 1930's. Not everything is to be blamed on religion. Common sense, please.
rkeith306at 9-01-2009
someone pass wah huh a doobie
jmomat 9-01-2009
i also agree with keith-i smoke weed and have for almost 40 years and no real adverse effects to my body or mind with a slight short term memory problem. It(memory) comes back as fast as it went away.
jjredat 9-01-2009
Whahuh is actually right... (no pun intended) its illegal because of politics and prejudice, not religion...(besides, if God is responsible for the earth and all its plants, then he put it here, so it can't be that bad, right?) This is one thing we can't blame on 'religious nutjobs', because even my religious friends are ok with it... And when you add 90 years of misinformation and lies and fear mongering, you get the current atmosphere. But alcohol and ciggs, which DO kill people is ok. How messed up is that!
