Von Bondies Plot Move to Canada at Toronto's Virgin Festival

Detroit garage-rockers the Von Bondies showed their appreciation for all things Canadian during their appearance at Day Two of Toronto's Virgin Festival.
Packing hundreds of fans into the cramped viewing area for the criminally small Boardwalk Stage, the border-town band -- which has recently regained popularity thanks to past single 'C'mon C'mon' being chosen as the theme song to Denis Leary's FX TV show 'Rescue Me' -- recalled their earliest forays across the 49th parallel.
"Windsor is where people from Detroit go to get drunk," lead singer Jason Stollsteimer told the packed crowd. "So I'd like to thank Canada for letting me get drunk at 19!"
While this elicited a big cheer from the crowd -- which evidently included several residents of Windsor -- the Michigan native pledged even further allegiance to his neighbours to the north a couple songs later.
"We're saving our Canadian money and credits so we can come across the lake and live here," joked Stollsteimer, before closing the set with a triplet of tunes which saw the band rip through latest single 'Pale Bride' before finally giving in to fan pressure and closing with their now-signature tune.
