Good morning from Austin, Texas. I flew in for an acoustic performance at the Drag and then I'm back to L.A. Couldn't sleep on Austin during release week of the album. After all, this is the birthplace of 'Live at Stubbs.'
Highlights of the week thus far have been Harley Davidson dropping off a bike for me while I'm in L.A., Tuesday's lunch at Jeff's Kosher Sausage, watering my friend Simcha's lawn and soaking my pants, live Kyte chat at 98.7 and seeing how much love there is in the world for Dugan. Oh yeah, and did I mention releasing a record this week?
In all seriousness, I've been reading all your comments about the record and I am truly honored to be able to make music for so many wonderful people. I feel we are all building something together.
On this week's 'Road to Light' episode there are some great moments. First off, anyone who hasn't seen Les Claypool's mockumentary 'Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo' should check it out. I got to spend some time with Killah Priest of Wu-Tang Clan at Harmony Festival. His record 'View From Masada' seriously influenced my music. Check out his robe, fresh. Also the vegan, raw food I ate there was really touching. Enough to want to make me go veggy.
Oh yeah and big ups to my boy Howie Martin who taught me to beatbox in the back of chemistry class when I was 16. Hope you're doing well, big guy.
