Blink-182 has postponed its shows tonight (Sept. 2) and Thursday (Sept. 3) in Cleveland and St. Louis so that the band may continue to mourn the sudden death last Friday of drummer Travis Barker's friend and collaborator, Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein. The band will resume its current North American tour on Sept. 4 in Kansas City, Mo.The postponed shows will now go on later this month, with the St. Louis gig rescheduled for Sept. 29 and the Cleveland show set for Sept. 30. In order to accommodate the change, shows in Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA have been bumped to Oct. 6 and 7.
Barker took to Twitter recently to comment on the unexpected loss of his TRV$DJAM partner, saying, "I'll never forget everything we've been thru and every time I play the drums I'll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being ... Rest in peace my brother, this really f---s me up." Barker, who survived a 2008 plane crash with Goldstein, dedicated last Saturday's concert to him.
The visibly upset trio struggled through the show as part of its ongoing tour with Weezer and Taking Back Sunday, prompting Blink to cancel its Monday performance in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. because it was too just upset to take the stage.
During the Saturday gig, Mark Hoppus told fans, "We truly hope that you're all having a good time tonight," as he held back the tears. "But this night's really hard for the three of us up here onstage and for a lot of our crew as well because we lost a really dear friend yesterday."
