Sean Lennon and Girlfriend Recreate Iconic Photo of John and Yoko

You can call it a case of history repeating itself. Sean Lennon has recreated the award-winning Rolling Stone cover photo of his parents, Yoko Ono and John Lennon, taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz on Dec. 8, 1980, just hours before the assassination of the former Beatle. While the original photo shows a clothed Ono being spooned by a naked Lennon, the junior Lennon and his girlfriend, model Kemp Muhl, switched roles for the remake, with Lennon keeping his pants on and Muhl, well, not so much. The Huffington Post (link NSFW) reports that the remake appears in the fall issue of independent French style publication Purple.

The original photo shoot initially correlated with the release of Ono and Lennon's first album together in five years, 'Double Fantasy.' Lennon would be shot by Mark David Chapman hours later outside the couple's New York City apartment building, the Dakota, upon returning from the studio. The photo graced the cover of Rolling Stone's commemorative issue to the late Beatle that hit newsstands on Jan. 22, 1981.

Ono has said of the iconic photo, "Why wasn't I told that John will be taken away from me soon after, without even a chance for me to say goodbye? That's what I think about now when I see it." There's no word yet on what she thinks of her son's take on it.

THE GREATEST PEOPLE OF ALL TIME? Are you serious? Other than make a fortune for themselves, what did they do for anyone else? Some people who can't think for themselves-like the kind of people who join cults, because they need else someone to follow..they don't have the courage to think for themselves. That's what I think of lennon fans. you want to appreciate the man as a brilliant songwriter and fair musician than that sounds reasonable..But when you make them out to be godlike than you show just how easily influenced you can be! When I think of people like you who worship people like Lennon,Jackson,And the like, I think of one word-BAA.

What WAS the intended message that John & Yoko were trying to convey w/the Rolling Stone cover? Did Yoko ever say? It always struck me as being a bit odd... and let's face it, John & Yoko were both a bit eccentric at times. I mean, think about the Two Virgins Album cover. Maybe they were just being weird again for the Rolling Stone cover..? No disrespect intended... not towards John, anyway! ;)

Jacko shouldn't-a' messed with Pauly. Things started going downhill for him as soon as he did; hair catching fire, skin pigmentation thing... 'nuff said. ::wink::

"Reader's Comments" did chazjazz miss this before posting or maybe chazjazz is channeling John Lennon. I can hear it now..." "I once had an E-bay, or should I say, E-bay once had me." Maybe we could call it "Norwegian E-bay" or "This E-bayer has Flown" I would have never taken John for an E-bayer!!!And last but not least...Spell Check...Use It!!..Ok enough...I'm off to find a Millionaire Date....Rubber Soul Out...
